Counseling

School Counseling Program

Elementary School Counselors provide a comprehensive School Counseling Program addressing academic, personal/social, and career development. The School Counseling Program is designed to meet the needs of ALL students.  The primary focus is to reduce barriers to learning.  Students may be referred for services by a staff member, family member, peer, and/or self-referral.

  • Classroom lessons are provided throughout the school year, on various issues including; test-taking, problem solving, decision making, relationship issues, conflict resolution, bullying, etc.

  • Small group counseling sessions are offered throughout the school year.  Parents are notified when their children are selected to participate. Typical topics may include: family issues such as separation and divorce, grief and loss, study skills, friendship or relationship issues, etc.

  • School Counselors meet with individual students on a short term basis when necessary. These sessions can be for planning academically or of a personal/social nature.

Small Group Counseling

The Counseling Department offers a variety of group counseling classes.  The groups meet for 30-45 minutes once a week.

They are as follows:
  • Divorce
  • Grief and Loss
  • Anger Management
  • Friendship
  • Anxiety and Social Skills
  • Organizational Skills/Attendance
*Please note that a permission slip needs to be signed by a parent or guardian.
