Curriculum at TAES

Common Core

The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them.

The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. In addition, implementation of these real-world standards is designed with student success as an outcome, thus leading to closing the Achievement Gap and acceleration of student progress.

Implementation of the standards requires that teachers mindfully address instructional shifts and pedagogy and have the content knowledge and critical thinking strategies needed for our diverse student population to be college and career ready.

Check out the website that allows you to read about the standards’ history, see the states that are using the state standards and see all of the language arts and math standards from kindergarten through high school.  Also, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher with any questions about Common Core and how it affects your child’s education.
